Meet The Team

Prathamesh Advilkar, a passionate educator and experienced career counselor, is the co-founder of The US Scholar, alongside his wife, Soniya Advilkar. With over 16 years of experience in teaching Physics and 15 years dedicated to guiding students towards successful careers abroad, Prathamesh brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field of overseas education.

Having completed his M.Sc. in Physics, Prathamesh has not only excelled in academics but has also contributed significantly to the education sector through his extensive work in abroad education counseling. He has written numerous insightful articles for leading Marathi newspapers like Loksatta and Sakal, covering various aspects of studying abroad. His columns, such as “Deshodeshinchya Shishyavrutti”, “Vidyapeeth Vishwa”, and “Sanshodhan Sansthayan”, have been instrumental in informing and inspiring students about opportunities overseas.

Prathamesh’s dedication to student success extends beyond writing. He has been a prominent speaker at various forums, including his guest appearance in Loksatta-Marg Yashacha in 2016. In 2025, he continues to share his expertise with the wider community through his semi-monthly column Durdeshichya DnyanWata in Loksatta Career Vruttant.

Now based in the UAE, Prathamesh’s passion for education and career counseling shines through in his work with The US Scholar, where he is responsible for guiding students in their university selection and application preparation. His years of experience and commitment to helping students achieve their dreams make him a key pillar of The US Scholar’s mission to shape the future of aspiring international students.

Soniya Advilkar is the co-founder of The US Scholar, partnering with her husband, Prathamesh Advilkar, to help students navigate their path to international education. With over 12 years of experience in teaching Mathematics, Soniya is a seasoned educator dedicated to making learning accessible, engaging, and impactful for her students.

Soniya holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and has specialized in preparing students for competitive exams such as the SAT and ACT. At The US Scholar, she takes the lead in teaching and mentoring students in these crucial standardized tests, helping them strengthen their mathematical skills and boost their test scores. Her unique teaching approach combines clear concepts, practice, and a deep understanding of the SAT/ACT format, ensuring that each student is well-prepared for success.

In addition to her work as a teacher, Soniya’s passion for education and her commitment to student success are evident in every class she conducts. Her ability to simplify complex math concepts and create a supportive learning environment makes her a favorite among students.

As a co-founder of The US Scholar, Soniya plays a pivotal role in shaping the institution’s mission to provide personalized, high-quality education to students aiming for higher studies abroad. With her expertise in Mathematics and her hands-on approach to test preparation, she is helping students unlock their full potential and reach their academic goals.

Vivek Sunil Pund, a valued member of The US Scholar team, brings a unique perspective to the university selection and application process. As an international student himself, having earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, Vivek understands the challenges and opportunities that await students pursuing higher education in the United States.

With professional experience at renowned companies like Abbott and West Pharmaceuticals in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, Vivek possesses valuable insights into the U.S. academic and professional landscape. He leverages his first-hand knowledge to guide students effectively, helping them choose the right universities and craft compelling applications that showcase their strengths and aspirations.
